At first I was not sure if I should purchase this item but when it arrived I was more then pleased especially the fast shipping.
This is a very poor product. On my first trip, it fell of my car roof at 40 MPH. Not nice.It is clear that the base is insufficient for an antenna of this length.
Just like a lot of you i had the same problem happen to me i got the wrong cb antenna. It upsets a lot that amazon false advertised this item i was looking forward to the 1500 but all i got was a bottom of the line antenna. Before you buy this item please read the reviews and make sure if you going to get this item you'll get the wrong one.
The antenna is the one recommnded by Cobra for the portable CB that we have. Portable CB antennas just don't perform like those installed on your vehicle and this one is no exception. We get good reception from about a mile away from the vehisle but not much over that distance. It holds great to the roof even in high speeds. Very easy to take down and install.
Cobra HG A1500 High Gear CB Antenna has an Item model number: HG A1000 and the Cobra HG A1000 High Gear CB Antenna has an Item model number: HG A1500.So clearly it seems the inventory numbers are erroneously swapped-Called two weeks ago- no fix and called today. Hopefully it's corrected since I can't settle with the lower wattage rated antenna.
